About EraseBG

A browser-based tool for removing backgrounds and giving photos a new purpose.

A fresh canvas for everyday photos.

EraseBG is an independent image-editing website built around one task: separating a subject from its background so you can give the photo a new purpose. It brings upload, background removal, editing, and download into one browser workflow.

Who maintains EraseBG

EraseBG is created and maintained by Rahul E Rajan as an independent web-tool project. The site focuses on local photo processing and practical guidance for checking and exporting the result. It is not affiliated with Google, Unsplash, or the model’s authors.

The guides describe the current editor rather than promising a perfect result. Example preparation and known limitations are explained in the gallery methodology. Report an incorrect instruction or a broken control through the contact page, including the page and the issue you saw.

What you can do

Upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP image, remove its background, then keep the result transparent or add a colour or your own backdrop. The editor includes comparison, undo, redo, and PNG or JPG download options. You can use a cutout in product listings, presentations, portraits, and creative designs.

How processing works

The background-removal model runs on your device in the browser. The first run downloads the model, and processing speed depends on the image and device. The website still uses external services to deliver fonts, scripts, and model files; the Privacy page explains the distinction.

The processing model and prepared examples

The current editor uses the open ormbg ONNX model through Transformers.js. This is automated foreground segmentation, not manual retouching. Gallery masks are prepared examples; workflow compositions illustrate possible designs and are not measured results from every upload.

What to expect from a result

Background removal is automated, and results vary. Hair, fur, blur, transparent objects, and busy backgrounds can be difficult to separate. Check the comparison before exporting and try a clearer original when important details are missing. EraseBG does not promise a perfect cutout from every photo.
